All About Me

I am so very excited to be starting this journey called blogging!  My hope is to collaborate and share ideas with all of you.

I'm a kindergarten teacher in eastern North Carolina. I love sharing ideas with other teachers and spending time with my family. Teaching is my passion.

I have taught in several states: South Carolina, California, Indiana, and North Carolina.  My experience spans Catholic schools, Department of Defense schools, and public schools.  I have taught kindergarten through fourth grades and sixth through eighth grades; this is my second year teaching kindergarten, and I couldn’t be more excited!  I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Francis Marion University and my Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading from Grand Canyon University.  This will be my twenty-second year of teaching!  Wow!  It feels just like yesterday when I stepped into my first classroom and met my first class of students.

My family is very important to me.   I am originally from South Carolina, which is where my parents and brother still live.  My husband, Michael, is a retired Marine and we have three children: Charlie (18 and away at college), Drew (15, a sophomore), and Ryleigh (10, a fifth grader).  We also have two dogs (Reba and Tara) and two cats (Sid and Raven) who keep us pretty busy.

My hobbies include reading, working on the computer, spending time with my children and husband, and finding new ideas for my classroom.  We love to watch soccer on the weekends and work in our yard, which is always a work-in-progress!
